Dormeasan is a traditional herbal medicinal product used against temporary insomnia and for mild anxiety.
The indications for a traditional herbal medicine are based exclusively on long-standing use.
Do not use Dormeasan
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to valerian, hops or any of the other ingredients of Dormeasan.
- for treatement of children under 2 years, because of the alcohol content.
Special care with Dormeasan
- Dormeasan is not recommended for children under 12 year of age, due to limited experience.
Taking other medicines
Combining Dormeasan with other sedative drugs is not recommended.
Pregnancy and lactation
In the absence of sufficient data, the use of Dormeasan is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Driving and operating machinery
Dormeasan may impair your ability to drive and use machines. Patients who feel affected by Dormeasan should not drive a car or operate machinery.
This medicinal product contains 62 vol% ethanol (alcohol), ie up to 0.5 g per ml, equivalent to 1.2 cl beer, or 0.5 cl of wine per ml Dormeasan. Harmful to people suffering from alcoholism.
To be taken into consideration by pregnant or nursing women, children and high-risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy.
Adults, elderly and adolescents over 12 years:
In case of anxiety: 1 ml (about 40 drops) in ½ glass of water 3-5 times daily.
For falling asleep: 2 ml (about 80 drops) in ½ glass of water.
Usage for children
Not recommended for children under 12 years.
If symptoms persist or worsen during use of Dormeasan a doctor or other healthcare professional should be consulted.
If you have taken too much Dormeasan
If you have accidentally take too much of Dormeasan, or if for example a child has taken the medicine by accident, contact your doctor or Poison Information Centre (tel. 112 in Sweden) for assessment of the risk and advice.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Dormeasan can cause side effects in some (but not all) users.
Gastrointestinal symptoms (such as nausea, abdominal pain) have been reported after taking valerian products.

Declaration of contents
The active substances per ml drops are
- 460 mg of tincture of Valeriana officinalis L. root (valerian), equivalent to about 240 mg of fresh root of valerian.
- 460 mg of tincture of Humulus lupulus L., cone (hops), equivalent to about 230 mg fresh cone from hops.
The other ingredients are ethanol and purified water.
1 ml corresponds to about 40 drops.
Dormeasan oral drops, solution containing 62% (v / v) ethanol, equivalent to 0.5 g of alcohol per ml.
